Sindh Extends Summer Vacation By Two Weeks
Due to the prevailing weather conditions, the Sindh government has extended the summer break for all schools in the province until August 14.
The Sindh Education Department announced the extension, which means both private and government schools will remain closed. The new academic year is now set to start on August 15. The Ehsaas Taleemi Wazaif 9000 program will also kick off as schools resume.
Summer Vacation
The Sindh government has extended summer vacation for all schools in the province until August 14th due to the ongoing heatwave and anticipated monsoon rains, providing students with an additional two weeks of break.
Reason for the Extension
“The summer vacation[s] are hereby extended in all public and private institutions under the administrative control of the School Education & Literacy Department till 14 August 2024 in the wake of the heat wave and expected monsoon rains,” the notification read.
Provincial Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah explained that the decision to extend the summer break was due to extreme heat and expected monsoon rains. He also mentioned that schools will organize Independence Day events on August 14.
The Sindh Kisan Card distribution date has been announced and coincides with the reopening of schools.
Original Schedule vs. New Dates
Initially, the provincial government had announced the summer break from June 1 to July 31, 2024. However, due to the extreme heat, the break has been extended by an additional two weeks, now ending on August 14.
