As per the details, the Punjab Cabinet is expected to formally approve the solar panel distribution plan. This initiative will enable the Punjab government to provide solar systems to lakhs of consumers consuming 50 to 500 units of electricity. The government will cover 90 percent of the cost of the solar panels while the remaining 10 percent will be paid by consumers. The solar panels will be provided to consumers in easy installments over five years.

Installment Plan Details
During the winter months, the installments of solar panels will be relatively low. The panels will be exclusively provided by the government, and a tariff will be established to determine the rate of electricity from the public grid and solar panels based on the needs of the customers.
