Additionally, special quotas have been earmarked for male and female students from Balochistan, with the total number of distributed laptops doubled under this scheme.
For the PM Laptop Scheme 2024, students who do not qualify for a laptop based on merit have been offered an alternative opportunity. They can now acquire laptops through easy installment plans facilitated by designated commercial banks of the government of Pakistan. Eligibility Criteria for PM Laptop Scheme
To qualify for the PM Laptop Scheme, students must meet the following criteria:
Educational Institutions:
- The student must be enrolled in a public university or college.
- Students enrolled in private institutions are not eligible.
Education Level:
- Eligible students include those pursuing undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate degrees.
- PhD, MA, MSc, and MPhil students are also eligible.
Previous Benefits:
- Students who have previously received laptops under any government scheme are ineligible for this program.
Foreign Students:
- Students from other countries, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir, are not eligible.
Degree Completion:
- Students who have already completed their degree programs are not eligible.
Required Documents:
- Applicants need to submit their Student Identity Card (CNIC) or B-Form, academic transcripts, and confirmation from their educational institution.
Ineligible Students: The following students are ineligible for the Prime Minister Laptop Scheme:
- Students enrolled in private educational institutions.
- Those who have previously received a laptop.
- Students who have not applied online for the laptop scheme.
- Students without a valid identity card or B-Form.
- Foreign students.
- Students completing their degrees.
- Distance education students.
- Those lacking proof of academic achievement.

Procedure for Registration in PM Laptop Scheme
Currently, the registration process for laptops has not yet begun by HEC. As mentioned earlier, following approval from the Prime Minister of Pakistan, HEC has commenced the laptop procurement process. Once the laptop purchase process is completed, HEC will officially announce the start of the registration process.
Upon the commencement of registration, interested students can visit the HEC web portal at hec.gov.pk to complete their online registration. It’s important to note that online registration via the HEC portal is the only method available.
