Former Chief Minister of Punjab, Shehbaz Sharif, launched the Apna Rozgar Scheme to provide employment opportunities for the unemployed youth in Punjab. As part of this initiative, 50,000 vehicles were distributed to young people across the province. Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that, like other aid programs of the Punjab government, this scheme would be free from corruption and political interference. Through this initiative, approximately 50,000 families in Punjab gained employment.
The new Punjab Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz, has revived the scheme. She announced that vehicles would be provided to the youth at a rate approximately 70,000 rupees lower than the market price, with the Punjab government covering the markup costs.
