Education Ministry to Improve Bus Service for FDE Students
Repair and Rehabilitation of School Buses
In response to directives from the Federal Education Minister, the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training has announced a significant initiative to address the issue of out-of-order school buses. A total of 45 buses, which have been dysfunctional for 14 years, are currently undergoing extensive repairs and rehabilitation. These buses are scheduled to be back in service within a week, ensuring that students under the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) have access to safe and reliable transportation.
Human Resource Enhancement for Transportation
To address the long-standing shortage of drivers and conductors in the school bus fleet, the education ministry has hired 200 new personnel. This recruitment, the first in eight years, was carried out through a third-party service to overcome the human resource deficit. The addition of these drivers and conductors will enhance the efficiency and timeliness of the transportation services provided to students.
Allocation of Pink Buses
In a move to support female students and teachers, the education ministry has allocated 20 Pink Buses specifically for travel between rural and urban areas. These buses are designed to improve accessibility and safety for female passengers, ensuring they can commute comfortably and securely.
Commitment to Quality Education and Student Well-Being
The Federal Minister of Education is deeply committed to enhancing the quality of education and the overall well-being of students. These recent initiatives reflect a strong dedication to improving the education system and providing necessary support services. The ministry emphasized that these efforts are part of a broader strategy to create a conducive learning environment and meet the needs of students effectively.
