PM Laptop Scheme New Update
The provisional merit list for the PM Laptop Scheme Phase III 2024 has been announced for students from both public and private universities.
In 2024, over one lakh laptops will be distributed to deserving male and female students, as stated by Pakistani Prime Minister Mr. Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif. This initiative aims to support many talented students who were unable to obtain laptops previously.
The PM Laptop Scheme 2024 was created to help students from public universities who cannot afford laptops. The distribution process began on September 25, 2024. Eligible candidates can check their status on the official website: www.pmyp.gov.pk.
Hec PM Laptop Scheme
After making necessary adjustments, the HEC released the final merit list and submitted it to the university’s focal person as the initial interim list. The focal person must review and correct this temporary list within 15 days before resubmitting it to the HEC.
Students who cannot provide the required documentary proof at the time of laptop distribution will be deemed ineligible. Academic achievement will be the primary criterion for determining a student’s merit in the laptop program.

Only students currently enrolled in Pakistan’s public higher education institutions are eligible for the PM Youth Laptop Scheme.

Objectives of the PM Youth Scheme
Enhance the quality of science and technology education through the integration of ICT.
Foster partnerships between industries and educational and training institutions.
Develop smart campuses to facilitate fast networking and a superior learning experience.
Boost industrial productivity and value creation.
Maximize the potential of information technology to enhance the education sector.
Improve productivity and efficiency by adopting state-of-the-art IT solutions.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligible students include those enrolled in HEC-accredited public universities or degree-awarding institutes, with the exception of distance learning programs.
This eligibility extends to:
- Students pursuing 18-year programs such as Ph.D., MS, or MPhil degrees.
- Students enrolled in 4-year or 5-year bachelor’s degree programs, applicable to both morning and evening classes.
- Students participating in MBA programs of varying durations, including 3.5 years, 2.5 years, and 1.5 years.
Distribution Criteria
Laptops will be allocated based on academic excellence in each degree program (Ph.D., MS/M.Phil, and 16 years of schooling).
Allocation will be determined by university enrollment figures and the laptop quota for each degree program, including University Quota, Campus Quota, Degree Program Quota, Department Quota, and Yearly Distribution.
Balochistan HEIs will receive 14% (14,000 laptops) of the total allocation, as per guidelines from the PM office. Students from approved universities in Balochistan will benefit from this quota.
The remaining 86,000 laptops will be distributed among public sector HEIs based on enrollment preferences.

Ineligible Students for PM Laptop Scheme
The following students are ineligible for laptops under this scheme:
- Students enrolling in any private higher education institution (HEI).
- Students enrolling in any government degree or postgraduate colleges, as well as affiliated colleges.
- Students who have previously received a laptop through any Federal or Provincial Government program.
- Students, except those from AJK or foreign nationals.
- Students who have not applied online or have not received an application through the online portal.
Additionally, eligibility for the laptop will be determined at the time of distribution. Students must submit the required paperwork and proof of academic performance as per the data that qualified them. Failure to do so will result in not receiving a laptop. Furthermore, any student who completes their degree program before laptop distribution will also be ineligible.
