Electricity Consumers in Punjab Can Receive Free Solar Panels Starting From This Date
The Punjab government has announced a major initiative to distribute free solar panels across the province starting on Independence Day, August 14. This move is part of a broader effort to support households and reduce electricity bills.
Key Details of the Scheme
Eligibility:
Households Consuming Up to 200 Units: Will receive solar panels free of charge.
Households Consuming Between 200 and 500 Units: Will receive solar panels at only 10% of the cost, with the remaining 90% subsidized by the Punjab government.
Payment Terms:
Payments will be interest-free and spread over five years.
Distribution:
The distribution process will be managed through banks, and all scheme details have been finalized.
Objectives of the Initiative
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced the scheme, stating that the initiative aims to reduce electricity bills by 40%. She emphasized that the government is committed to addressing past issues and ensuring that the public does not face similar challenges in the future.
