Punjab Government Has Given Green Light To Five Development Projects
The Punjab government has recently approved five significant development schemes across various sectors, as outlined during the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) meeting chaired by Planning and Development Board Punjab Chairman Iftikhar Ali Sahoo. Here’s a breakdown of the approved schemes and their estimated costs:
Regional Planning in Punjab:
Cost: Rs 477.647 million
This scheme focuses on regional planning initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure and spatial development across Punjab.
Energy Efficiency and Conservation Programme (Revised):
Cost: Rs 3444.94 million
This programme aims to enhance energy efficiency and promote conservation measures across the province, addressing sustainability and cost-effectiveness in energy consumption.
Revamping of Data Centre Services with High Availability and Backup for PFSA (Revised):
Cost: Rs 785.602 million
This scheme involves upgrading and ensuring high availability and backup facilities for the Punjab Forensic Science Agency’s data centre services, crucial for forensic operations and data security.
Rehabilitation/Renovation of Local Government and Community Development Building (H-Block, now Ravi Block) and Parking Arrangements:
Cost: Rs 657.776 million
Focuses on renovating and improving infrastructure at the Punjab Civil Secretariat, specifically the H-Block (now Ravi Block) and associated parking facilities.
Construction of 313 Residences for Police Officers/Officials in Lahore:
Cost: Rs 4,547.796 million
Aims to provide housing solutions for police officers and officials in Lahore, addressing accommodation needs within the law enforcement sector.
Additionally, Punjab Planning and Development Minister Bilal Afzal chaired a meeting of the Public Financial Management Reform Steering Committee (PFMRC), discussing progress under the World Bank-funded Punjab Resource Improvement and Digital Effectiveness (PRIDE) programme. The meeting also focused on enhancing government revenue, improving digital services, and optimizing procurement processes to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality in government operations.
